Our Mandate

ASF Pakistan mandate is to work with multiple relevant stakeholders, through peaceful and democratic processes, towards the elimination of acid violence in particular and GBV at a larger level, and towards the empowerment of survivors -women and children in particular- so that they can exercise their basic human rights.

Our Programs

Empowerment Program

Provision of comprehensive rehabilitation services to victims of acid/burn attacks along with legal aid and personal development services

Communication For Change

Evidence/research based advocacy and lobbying to establish an effective comprehensive acid and burn legislation in Pakistan to prevent acid attacks.

Preventive Diplomacy

Enhancement of awareness, education and conducting training programs to mitigate conflicts and curb the resulting cycle of gender based violence.

Capacity Building Program

Documentation and assessment of impact, outcomes, processes and good/best practices to later on share those and capitalist on them.

Child Protection Program

Empower caregivers and stakeholders to address child abuses and develop a child friendly environment that promotes and enforces child rights.

  • Alina’s Story

    Alina Bibi was a housewife with 5 children living in the remote village of Jatooi in southern Punjab of Pakistan. On 2nd September 1997 at 4 am, while Alina was sleeping at her home with her 8-year-old daughter Sara, criminals attacked and burnt Alina with acid. Her face and arms were badly burnt and the ear of her daughter was completely burnt.

  • Rashida’s Story

    By profession Rashida Naz (Mohammad Rashid Naz) was a dancer and used to dance at weddings. In 2003, when Rashida was only 15 years old, some people of her area wanted to have illicit relations with her. She refused and they threw acid on her. She was badly disfigured and not able to eat while sitting due to acid burns on her lips and neck. She has also lost her eyesight.
